Scripps Health, Scripps Green Hospital

San Diego, CA

Scripps Health operates five hospitals on four campuses throughout the San Diego area and has undertaken a $5 billion effort to update those facilities. GBE was awarded the task of expanding the Scripps Green Hospital Cath Lab Unit. Scripps Green Hospital has become a leader in performing cardiac catheterization procedures and needed to update Cath Labs #3 and #4. GBE’s work included equipment replacement, new electrical panels, ducting and designing the medical gases valve system.

Global Five Medical Office Building

Beverly Hills, CA

GBE provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering design for the conversion of a three-story 30,000 sf existing office building to a Medical Office Building.

Features:
Exam rooms
MRI room
Linear accelerator
Pet/CT scan
Infusion areas
Physician offices

Brotman Medical Center

Culver City, CA

GBE was contracted to provide a number of services to update the facilities at Brotman Medical Center, including the building systems design for renovation and installation of their nuclear gamma camera. Working closely with the client, new electrical systems were designed in order to support new equipment from Siemens Medical Solutions. GBE’s design of the electrical system called for the manufacturer to install the electrical power for the equipment, thus insuring correct operation under warranty. The parameters of this project also required review under OSHPD and no undue delays were experienced moving into construction administration.

Vantage Oncology Center

West Hills, CA

Located within the West Hills Medical Center, the Vantage Oncology Center required the modification and upgrading of building systems to accommodate two new linear accelerators, a CT scan room and associated support areas. The accelerators are located on the first floor of a five–story medical building. Because the linear accelerators require continuous temperature control of their environment, the project necessitated two new eight-ton roof heat pump units and two medical chillers to be installed on the roof using a designated system. Other additions included an air compressor for controls, new feeders, panels and transformers and lighting and receptacle upgrades.

Redlands Community Hospital

Redlands, CA

GBE completed the MEP design for the conversion of the second floor of the five-story north patient tower consisting of delivery, recovery, NICU and nursery areas to a med/surg floor and converting the second floor of the 1965 tower, which formerly housed LDR and recovery rooms, to an ICU floor.

Scripps Mercy Hospital

San Diego, CA

Scripps Mercy Hospital, founded in 1890, has a reputable history in San Diego and is the only Catholic medical center in the area. GBE performed MEP design for the replacement of the central plant and the steam sterilizers here.

Kaiser Permanente Hospital

Fontana, CA

Due to an increasing demand for patient care at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana, GBE was asked to help retrofit this existing hospital with additional electrical amenities. In the telemetry department, GBE was asked to retrofit existing patient headboards with additional receptacles. The client also requested that the design be executed in such a manner that the telemetry department could remain operational during construction. GBE provided a design that could accommodate renovation to only two patient rooms at a time, leaving the other 28 patient rooms open for use during construction.

Diabetes Teaching Kitchen

San Fernando, CA

Mission Community Hospital consists of two campuses. The facility located in Panorama City is a 120-bed medical, surgical and behavioral health inpatient facility. The San Fernando Community Campus for Health & Education provides quality-of-life enhancement programs for patients with diabetes and obesity. At the San Fernando Community Campus for Health & Education, GBE is providing MEP design to convert an unused institutional kitchen and dining area to a state-of-the-art instructional kitchen for the MCH Diabetes Teaching Kitchen program. This program educates parents, family caregivers and family members living with patients who have high-risk diabetes and other chronic diseases.

Pomona Valley Hospital

Pomona, CA

Originally constructed in 1992, the Women’s Center at Pomona Valley Hospital is slated for renovation. GBE has provided the mechanical and plumbing design to remodel the existing NICU, L&D and LDRP which includes the addition of C-Section unit and conversion of the existing NICU area to OB/Post-partum rooms. The project architect is currently proposing and designing single patient rooms in the NICU unit. Single patient rooms greatly benefit the patient by reducing the length of stay, controlling infection, controlling daylight and noise and promoting the involvement of family.
