GBE was commissioned by the City of Hope to conduct a study of a new central plant that would serve the Beckman Research Institute. GBE has worked on other City of Hope projects, and as with those, this study was conducted with an eye towards the future: the measures of flexibility, expandability and ease of maintenance would best address future needs. The plan, which ultimately went to the CFO of City of Hope to initiate a fundraising campaign, needed to address the central plant’s location, integration with the campus architectural vernacular and cost. Other GBE projects for City of Hope have included MEP design for the Surgery Storage conversion, the BMT Tissue Laboratory and Robotic Research Laboratory.
