Vine Street School

Originally built in 1909, today Vine Street Elementary School has passed its centennial anniversary.  A venerable neighborhood fixture, its renovation and the addition of 10 new classrooms provided an opportunity for GBE to make it viable again.  The school is still going strong with an HVAC update, new plumbing, new gas piping, electric cooling and fire-protection sprinklers.  Additionally, new exterior lighting has made the entire campus meet Title 24 requirements.  Some architectural elements include the addition of a “green wall” to disguise rooftop machinery and a new canopy to shelter an extra outdoor classroom.
