5900 Wilshire

5900 Wilshire is a 32-story high-rise, built in 1971 by mid-century modern architects Welton Becket & Associates. GBE was the lead engineering firm providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing design for a complete replacement of the central plant in order to accommodate the building’s existing load usage. GBE also performed an addition and renovation to the ground floor lobby. Due to the extremely large chillers and boilers that had to go into the building, they were helicoptered in in pieces during the weekend while Wilshire Blvd. was temporarily closed to traffic. All work was performed while the entire building remained fully operational and was completed on time and on budget.
